The Group Rides
It's a simple formula:
Moving your body keeps you healthy and helps regulate your blood sugars. As diabetics we need to find fun ways to move our bodies and stay motivated for health and well being. No experience necessary! The purpose of this ride is simple: We will encourage building physical routines and show how simple it can be to develop healthy exercise habits. Let's have fun, let's ride bikes and we'll build the momentum to access a healthy lifestyle. Our aim is to help prepare and motivate you for future bike rides. This includes learning what snacks are best to have with you, and what you would need for longer rides, big climbs...even cycle touring! Our rides leave on Sundays from our collaborative bike shop: North Portland BikeWorks. Hence, our rides will be in North/Northeast/and central Portland. A fun mix of residential streets, bike lanes and paths. We ride rain or shine. Don't be daunted by a little sprinkle! Put your rain wear on and we'll go have fun. However, If it is absolutely pouring we may cancel it. We have bikes available to rent. Our comfortable and efficient hybrid style bikes will be properly fit to you. The participation fee is $10 and an additional $15 if bike rental is needed. What to expect:
Reserve your space and join us on our Sunday ride. Plan for being on the bike about an hour. It is required to arrive 30 minutes early if you are renting a bike. |
